The 5100 Series 85 51 250AF is a Knipex spring hose clamp plier — a German-made specialist tool engineered for installing and removing flat band and ring-type spring hose clamps without slipping or damaging the clamp.

Spring band clamps are the OEM choice on most modern automotive cooling, fuel and air intake systems because they self-adjust to hose expansion and contraction. The downside is that they're awkward to fit with general-purpose pliers — the clamp can spring loose mid-fit and snap onto fingers or fall into the engine bay. Knipex pliers solve this with serrated jaws that grip the clamp ears positively and hold them open until you release them.
