9870 Series Wire Rope Thimbles Packs of 10
The 9870 Series wire rope thimbles are supplied in packs of 10 — a workshop-volume pack for fencing and rigging operators forming multiple wire rope terminations. The thimble fits inside the loop of a wire rope termination, protecting the rope from crushing and chafing where it bears against a shackle, hook or eye-bolt.
Without a thimble, wire rope under load deforms into a tight bend at the contact point — accelerating wear and reducing the rated working load of the termination. With a thimble, the rope curves around the protective insert, distributing the load evenly and preserving rope life.
Standard practice
- Always use a thimble in any wire rope eye that will see repeated load cycling
- Pair with wire rope grips (also 9870 series) to secure the loop
- Match thimble size to rope diameter — undersized thimbles will pop out under load
Zinc-plated mild steel construction for general outdoor use. Suitable for fencing, agricultural rigging, equipment tie-downs and similar light-to-medium load applications.
